Last August, I made the most of the climate perks scheme that Plimsoll offers, which gave me the perfect opportunity to embark on the adventure of a lifetime with my good friends—while also earning two days of annual leave back.
It couldn’t have been more ideal. We set off on a road trip from Bristol to Zermatt, aiming to summit 8 of the 4000m peaks in the Monte Rosa Massif. Traveling by van allowed us the flexibility to make scenic pit stops along the way, including visits to charming French pâtisseries for pain au chocolat and coffee. The experience would’ve been slightly different had I been brushing elbows with two strangers 15,000ft in the air… We also took advantage of the journey to stop in Chamonix and complete a crucial crevasse rescue training course, ensuring we were fully prepared for the climbs ahead. In total, we drove over 1700 miles.
