Plimsoll Productions is set to produce the 10-part series Marcus Wareing’s Tales From A Kitchen Garden for BBC2.

Slated to air in 2022, the program sees the chef and restaurateur follow his dream of living and cooking in the English countryside after having recently acquired a small holding in East Sussex equipped with a vegetable garden, an apple orchard, some beehives and a chicken coop.

Wareing will travel across the country visiting British food producers, farmers and gardeners as he grows his fledgling market garden.

In each episode, he’ll create meals inspired by his garden and those he’s met along the journey. The series will also offer tips around rearing livestock such as pigs, chickens, cows, sheep and bees, as well as advice on planting orchards and growing vegetables.

Aisling O’Connor, head of TV commissioning for BBC England, said in a statement: “We’re excited to have co-commissioned this series with BBC Daytime and Early Peak. Marcus hails from Lancashire and now lives in East Sussex. He is the ideal person for BBC England to work with, as we do our job of reflecting the people and places that matter to our audiences up and down the country.”

Marcus Wareing’s Tales from A Kitchen Garden was commissioned by O’Connor and Carla-Maria Lawson, head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak.

The commissioning editor for BBC Daytime is Lindsay Bradbury and the executive producer for Bristol-, Cardiff- and Los Angeles-based Plimsoll Productions is Karen Plumb, the prodco’s head of factual entertainment.
