Greetings from Green-Land,
We’re Plimsoll’s Green Group—a collection of eco-enthusiasts and recycling fanatics from across the company. In addition to producing premium TV shows, we’re on a mission to ensure Plimsoll continues to lead the way in sustainability and environmental awareness.
And what better way to share these updates with you than through a newsletter?
In our first edition, we have a Climate Perks photo story from The Matterhorn, the latest on our plans for this year’s Earth Week, and the inside scoop from one of our production teams who went above and beyond to tackle environmental chaos on location! We’re super excited to share these with you as we continue striving for a greener future and a more sustainable planet.
If you didn’t already know, the Green Group includes people from every department at Plimsoll. We meet regularly to discuss new ideas and find ways to keep Plimsoll on track with our carbon and zero-waste pledges.
Anyone can get involved, so if you’re interested, please reach out! We’re so serious — we even have our own email address!
Filming overseas, Fighting Waste…
In 2024, Plimsoll launched production for a five-part series for ITV. It’s called SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters, and you’ve probably heard of it by now.
As with all Plimsoll productions, their goal was to make as small an impact as possible while on location—especially with such a large team in such a beautiful part of the world.
See the steps the SHARK! team took to reduce their carbon footprint here…
Calling All (IT) Hoarders…
After the smashing success of our TerraCycle initiative, we’re stepping it up a notch—it’s time to tackle your tech graveyard!
Dust off those old computers and mobile phones, and bring them in for recycling. Our trusted e-waste partner provides certified data destruction for everything they collect, so you can safely say goodbye to that old iPhone—and your data worries!
We’ll also take tablets, printers, cables, and any other peripherals. We can only accept IT-related devices, so no toasters or treadmills for now, please. If you’re unsure or need more info, speak to a member of the IT team.
New Heights for Climate Perks…
Last year, everyone’s favourite Tech Coordinator, Dylan, took advantage of Plimsoll’s Climate Perks scheme, earning two extra leave days while embarking on an unforgettable trip with his friends. Below, Dylan shares his story—and his epic photos.
If you’ve taken part in the Climate Perks scheme, we’d love to hear about it! You can read about Dylan’s trip here.
Stay tuned for Green Week 2025…
Earth Day 2025 is fast approaching, and this year, Plimsoll will be stepping things up again and organsing activities and initiatives acrosss the whole week. Expect talks, quizzes and perhaps even a video (I hear James Hanson is an Exec Producer).
We’ll be celebrating Earth Week on the week beginning April 21st, and if you have an idea for the week (anything from a pledge to a stunt), we want to hear it!
As wildlife filmmakers, we have a responsibility to reflect the changing environment in our programs and we recognise the importance of taking action to reduce our impact on the environment.
