A highly experienced executive and program-maker, Alan serves as Head of Plimsoll USA, where he is responsible for expanding the company’s U.S. footprint and acts as the chief point of contact for all of Plimsoll’s U.S.-based business.
For Plimsoll, he has developed and executive produced projects including Skyscraper Live (Netflix), Nightmares of Nature (Netflix), Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston (National Geographic/Disney+), Devil’s Climb (National Geographic/Disney+), and Are You My First? (Hulu), in addition to forthcoming large-scale projects currently in production for Apple and Netflix.
Prior to this, he was a Commissioning Editor for National Geographic Global Channels, based in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., where he oversaw more than 300 hours per year of series, formats, and documentary films created in collaboration with some of the world’s leading storytellers, including Darren Aronofsky and James Cameron, as well as Oscar-winning documentary filmmakers such as Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi, TJ Martin and Dan Lindsay, and Brett Morgen.
His credits include a run of award-winning documentary films, including the Emmy-winning LA 92; the Academy Award–nominated and Emmy-winning The Cave; the Critics’ Choice Award winner and BAFTA Film Award nominee The Rescue; and the Academy Award– and Emmy-winning global phenomenon Free Solo.
In addition, he worked on nonfiction blockbusters for Disney+, including Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Welcome to Earth with Will Smith, the Emmy-nominated series The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and Beyond Belief with David Blaine. He has also overseen long-running series including the multi-Emmy-winning Life Below Zero, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, Brain Games, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, and the nine-time Emmy-winning Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller.
