Andrea Jackson is an entrepreneurial executive with a global track record in format sales and a rare blend of creative and commercial expertise, having built and sold two international production and distribution companies. Her deep understanding of the international television industry – from format creation, through production to distribution-underpins her role as Creative Director at Plimsoll Studios, where she has developed and executive produced series including Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters for ITV and forthcoming large-scale series with A-list talent for Netflix.
Andrea oversees Plimsoll’s onscreen talent strategy – casting, building relationships with talent and their representatives and creative collaboration with talent across Plimsoll’s output.
Before joining Plimsoll, Andrea founded Magnify Media and grew it into a global format business, taking formats like Rescue Dog to Super Dog, Fittest Family and Doctors vs Internet into production in multiple territories. Plimsoll first invested in Magnify in 2016, before acquiring the company outright in 2020.
Prior to launching Magnify, Andrea was Managing Director, Formats and Acquisitions at DRG, overseeing the international distribution and production of award-winning formats such as Don’t Tell the Bride, 15 to 1, Catchphrase, Doc Martin and The Farm, alongside unscripted co-production investment and content acquisition. Andrea joined DRG following its acquisition of her production and distribution company, Zeal Entertainment, producer of The Pepsi Chart Show and distributor of The Singing Bee, one of the most successful formats of all time, with versions produced in 32 countries.
Andrea began building brands and businesses at Mentorn Barraclough Carey, where she set up its distribution division, Mentorn International, turning Robot Wars into a globally-produced hit. She began her career at format pioneer Action Time distributing break-out hits such as Survivor.
